The giveaway on Craigslist

Background information:

I won a two night stay at The Virgin River in Mesquite last month on the radio. I was able to say "toy boat" five times fast on "Tongue Twister Tuesday" (when I called in, i had no idea what the prize was).
Well, it is only good Sunday through Thursday and my hubby can't take time off work to go with me. (We nearly cleaned out his vacation time after my accident last fall between the hospital and follow up visits.)

The story:
I decided today to try listing it for "free" on craigslist. I have never listed anything before, so after fiddling for a while. . . I decided my attempt did not work.
I continued plugging away at laundry (that is my main project to work on every Monday.) After a little time had passed, I went to the laundry room to switch over loads. I heard my cell phone ringing and thought "Oh, I'll just go see who called when I am finished in here." So I finish what I am doing, then head upstairs. When I got to my phone I found 6 missed calls and 5 voice mails. Here are the times they came in:
3:52
3:56
3:57
3:59
4:15
4:17
Each one was a different phone number! As I was listening to the voice mails I had another person call to inquire.

I had no idea that many people check Craigslist that often. After the seventh phone call in half an hour I ran down stairs and deleted the posting. I ended up giving it ti the first caller, and they are going to use it for an anniversary getaway next week. What a warm happy feeling that gave me to know I could help someone have a fun little get away for their anniversary.

Lesson to learn: If you want to give away a two day get away, be prepared for whatever may happen.

Happy Spring!

Happy spring everyone! That is what I think every time I look at this picture. This is what Eliza wore to church about a month ago. Isn't she darling? I just love having another girl in the house.
It is so much fun to wrestle with my little boys for a while, then coo and talk "girl talk"/make little high noises with my daughter afterward. She is such a joy! I hope all the women who read this have a happy mother's day! As well as a fabulous spring!

First Bike Ride

I went for my first bike ride since my accident, a couple nights ago. It was so fun! I miss riding...but I think I will have to wait a bit longer before I go again. I did not realize how bumpy the streets are in my area, until I went for a bike ride with a fractured finger. (and it was a little chilly for the metal plate in my other finger).

I am having a dilemma whenever I am faced with being in the cold. I can either wear a splint to protect my middle finger from further injury and have an aching ring finger due to cold. Or wear a glove to keep my ring finger warm, but I can't fit a splint inside or on top of my splint to protect my finger. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I should do/could try? If so, please share! :)

One thing after another

I feel bad I never took a picture of my house last week. We fumigated, so my house was covered in a circus tent for a few days. It was quite an adventure. \

We had dry wood termites in a decorative wooden wall in our basement family room. At first, we were going to just rip out the wooden wall, but as we carefully removed the first few wooden beams, we found they had traveled into the floor beams. At that point, we decided (between the choices at hand) that it would probably be cheaper and easier to spend a few thousand dollars to fumigate, rather than spending who knows how much to tear apart our house and try to locate every board containing the little pests. We used Dixie Pest Control, and we were really happy with the outcome. They did a good job, and I felt they were very careful with our home.

Now that we are back in our home, I have fixed our front planter beds. I planted some new flowers along with some Roman Chamomile, and a little English Thyme. One of these days I'll post pictures of some of the things I have planted.

Thank goodness I have my yard squared away for the time being, because my sister had her baby this morning! She had Scott Bramall Chamberlain at 8:23 am. He was 9 lbs. 4 oz. and 21 in. long. So I get to play with her kidlins for part of today. We have been having fun today. On that note, I had better keep playing with trains with them on the floor, before we all get into trouble!

P.S. I typed this post with two hands!!!

Ooops! Here is the whole family

Sorry! I guess I was really tired last night. I am not sure if I deleted it, or just didn't mark it. I am not sure how I missed the main family picture--the point of the whole post, but here it is:There we are, all together, happy as clams. It was hard to encourage my kids to smile and look forward while remembering to do so myself. I am continually amazed at how quickly my kids grow (as well as how quickly I can grow, but I shrink so slowly--it's just not fair!)

Family Photos

I am not sure if many people know this about me, but I do not love having my picture taken. I never have enjoyed the feeling of posing while someone is capturing what I look like--FOREVER! (Maybe I'm just a weirdo...).

With that being said, my dad wanted some family pictures for Christmas. So he bought himself a family photo shoot for each of his kids at the local photography shop. How am I supposed to not follow through with that?!?

I absolutely loved the pictures of my children. Nissa captured them very well, with much effort and coaxing on her part.--Thank goodness for digital cameras!

Eliza:
Our angelic little angel. She is such a sweet little girl!
Tucker:
He is fairly mellow, a little bashful at times, but he is also pretty fearless.
He would follow his big brother anywhere!
His hair is super short due to a haircut his big brother gave him...
possibly a month prior to this picture, yeah, it was short!

Brycen:
A little bit of a spaz, he is rarely shy and loves to explore and get into everything--especially when he has a little sidekick to blame for any mess. He has a shirt that says, "My Parents are Exhausted!", and it is true most days. Would you have a hard time punishing a boy this excited about an adventure he has embarked upon? Every once in a while I struggle to keep a straight face during disciplinary action.
My boys absolutely adore their little sister.
This was not a posed picture, for my boys. We were just trying to get a picture of Eliza and the boys jumped in to watch more closely. This is one of my favorite pictures!
Anyway, there are my gorgeous children. I sure love them!
